Medical Devices and Diagnostics (MD and D) Global Services, L.L.C., represents more than 60 manufacturing sites and 26,000 employees who plan, source, manufacture and deliver high:quality and cost:effective medical products to our customers around the globe each day. Work of the MD and D Supply Chain supports a multitude of product platforms, new products and delivery systems that are used in a wide range of procedures throughout the healthcare industry, including interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, minimally invasive surgery, hospital sterilization, clinical laboratory testing, diabetes management, joint replacement surgery and vision care.
The Senior Principal Engineer, under the direction of the Regional Engineering Director, will plan and direct the operations and projects to advance the Hernia Wound Closure Raw Material technology innovation pipeline. This individual will focus on Synthetic Absorbable Polymer and Suture manufacturing, taking concepts and delivering concrete, transformational business results.
The Senior Principal Engineer will be responsible for the development, maturity and deployment of the Hernia Wound Closure Raw Material Technology pipeline with a focus on Synthetic Absorbable Polymer and Suture Innovation. This individual will take innovative concepts from TRL 0+ to TRL4+ to deliver transformational business results. Deliver technology solutions which enable harmonized deployment across the Ethicon HWC Raw Material internal manufacturing region. Review and evaluate overall effectiveness of Synthetic Absorbable Polymer and Suture manufacturing technology programs and process operations. Provide Subject Matter Expertise and Platform Ownership on multiple Synthetic Absorbable Polymer and Suture equipment types and technologies, including equipment reliability. This individual will plan, conduct and direct substantial engineering projects or studies, including complete projects, requiring advanced knowledge of a specialized field. Apply comprehensive and diverse knowledge of engineering principles and practices within broad assignment areas. Anticipate development, procurement, manufacturing and reliability problems associated with Synthetic Absorbable Polymer and Suture technology, and pro:actively mitigate risk. Establish project completion dates, project workload sequences, coordinate cost estimates and maintain control of expenditures for entire portfolio of projects.
The Senior Principal Engineer will lead cross:functional teams and serve on company task forces. Review with team planned objectives, status of programs and projects, problems and conclusions concerning assigned operations. This individual will plan discovery and development programs and originate, design and direct investigation in relevant areas of engineering. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would normally result in failure to achieve goals critical to the major strategic objectives of the organization. Analyze data and complex situations involving the evaluation of tangible and identifiable variables to arrive at innovative and effective solutions. Exercise independent judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results on new assignments. May provide guidance and work direction to lower level engineers. Represent an authority in their field and complete work without appreciable direction. Interface with multiple plant locations, Corporate and external vendors to ensure that each facility's goals, objectives and requirements are met, included are project schedules and product/process requirements.
